박수찬 교수는 1996년 서울대학교에서 학사학위를 받은 후, 동 대학원에서 석사(1998년)와 박사(2003년) 학위를 취득하였다. 이후 2003년부터 2006년까지 고등과학원에서 박사후 연구원으로 재직하였고, 2006년부터 2010년 2월까지 독일 쾰른대학교에서 박사후 연구원을 수행하였다. 2010년 3월 가톨릭대학교에 임용되어 현재 정교수로 재직 중이다. 박사학위 과정 동안에는 비평형계에 대한 장론적 접근을 연구하였으며, 이를 주제로 박사학위 논문을 작성하였다. 이후 비평형계에서 일어나는 상전이, 특히 흡수 상전이에 대한 연구에서 많은 성과를 내었다. 2006년 독일 쾰른대학교에서 시작한 생물학적 진화에 대한 연구 역시 국제공동연구로 현재까지 이어가고 있다. 현재 한국물리학회와 한국진화학회의 정회원으로 활동하고 있다.
Professor Su-Chan Park received his B.S. degree from Seoul National University in 1996, followed by M.S. (1998) and Ph.D. (2003) degrees from the same institution. He then served as a postdoctoral researcher at the Korea Institute for Advanced Study (KIAS) from 2003 to 2006, and subsequently as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Cologne, Germany, from 2006 to February 2010. In March 2010, he joined The Catholic University of Korea, where he currently serves as a full professor.
During his doctoral studies, he investigated field-theoretic approaches to nonequilibrium systems, which formed the subject of his doctoral dissertation. He has since made significant contributions to the study of phase transitions in nonequilibrium systems, with a particular focus on absorbing phase transitions. His research on biological evolution, which began at the University of Cologne in 2006, also continues to this day through international collaborations. He is currently a member of the Korean Physical Society and the Korean Society for Evolutionary Biology.
